Music! Books!

Today's haul:

Tropic Thunder Soundtrack (Various Artists) : incredible variety, from "War" to "Sadeness, Pt. 1" to "Moving on Up" to "I Love the P****y" by Alpa Chino :-)

Serpentine Gallery
(Switchblade Symphony) : one of the "filling in the holes" discs of music I managed to miss first time around

Stardust (Neil Gaiman) : after having seen the movie, and yes, we liked the movie (and of course we like Neil Gaiman!)

The Time Traveler's Wife
(Audrey Nifenegger) : comes highly recommended

Perdido Street Station
(China Mieville) : ditto, and in nineweaving's collection of recommended "language of fantasy" works

The Lies of Locke Lamora
(Scott Lynch) : from an Amazon.com review "does (or tries to do) for renaissance Venice what PERDIDO STREET STATION did for Dickensian London"... and my daughter has already run off with it

The Nightmare Factory
(Thomas Ligotti) : not the original but a graphic novel version of four of the stories, each with an introduction by Ligotti; beautifully done

Virtuoso Pianist in 60 Exercises: Complete Piano Technique (C. L. Hanon) : the classic, for when I get back to learning to play that keyboard I got last Christmas

We went out to dim sum at China Pearl in Woburn this morning and hit the place early enough that we didn't have to wait for a seat and were fed a constant supply of very yummy dishes.  Tonight I get to try the other Turkish restaurant in West Haven.  A good day. :-)

Glad you approve. :-)
But these are ones I just got, so (other than the one my daughter WILL bring back when she's done) I get to keep them all to myself, muahahaha!

If you ever find it, grab 'Life a users manual' by George Perec. It's insane.

Thank you! I did, even if I didn't get to the Turkish restaurant (I had dinner at another place instead). And I'll keep that book in mind when I run out of reading materials again. :-)
