Next week, someone will come to do a house appraisal, including walking through the inside.  Today, I have done the following:

1) cleaned up the box of extra stuff in the bathroom
2) stripped peeling wallpaper border in same bathroom
3) patched holes in same room where towel racks didn't "take"
4) found paint that, uh, well, almost matches the bathroom walls
5) painted over bathroom patches
6) found paint that matches more exactly to kitchen walls where we'd stripped a border years ago
7) painted over stripped border in kitchen and over the test patches of other paint that we never actually used
8) searched for our wood saw; went out and bought a wood saw
9) cut one of the extra planks to fill in the last open edge on the deck outside the kitchen door
10) bought and sprinkled ant poison around the incredible number of hills in the back yard (yes, you may chide me for environmental damage)
11) attempted to put the railing back on the inside stairs (the bolts had pulled out, but I have other mounting hardware now) ... unsuccessful
12) bought what should be able to patch the ceiling in the family room (I'll let you know tomorrow if it works)
13) bought two fans to help circulate air in the upstairs so we don't have to run the central air too much
14) made supper

Tonight: some more clearing away stuff, second attempt to get the railing up

Are you thinking of selling, now that the kids are out of the public schools?

No, it's for refinancing, with some cash out, now that the kids are in college. :)

Terrible timing but that's the way it goes.
