Cheep Shot

Normally I like the outdoors (passively, not as in hiking around in it), but it's been strange today.

This morning was beautiful, a clear blue sky and bright green leaves... and a wind with the bite of a hotel air conditioner on full chill, or as if it came straight off a glacier, as if the rest of the setting was a stage prop, an illusion, and would shimmer and fade in another instant and we'd see we were still snowbound.

This evening I came out from work and it was warmer (if not actually "warm") and the sun was still up and the sky was still blue and the trees were still green and the birds were still singing... except, no, they weren't. We have an investation of sparrows around the building who nest in the parking garage, and they do not sing. They "CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP!" steadily, loudly, staccato, echoing through and out the concrete shell and sounding more like a bunch of mindless little feathered car alarms than anything else.

Spring, feh.

It's not for nothing that Yellingbird is drawn as a sparrow.
