NaNo Woes

I.e., I'm way behind, but not irreversibly so. I had an idea for connected short stories but it's turned back into a novella because I didn't write plot outlines ahead of time and so didn't stay on arc. Feh. It's mostly writing itself and I'm just typing it as I "read" it, which is not the most efficient way to get this done. I can't even give it a title yet because I don't know what the main point is going to be! But the characters and situations are interesting. To me at least. :-)

Pfft. You have to do whatever it takes to keep your own spirits up in this, or you're doomed, doomed, I say! :-)

Any amount you can write is good. Anything you get out is something that never existed in the world before. Maybe in thousands of words there's just one sentence that pleases you, that's worth saving, but if you hadn't written the rest maybe that one sentence would never have come out.

Why?

Because for the past ten or so years I have not been able to get the rambling story ideas/bits of novel plots in my head to translate onto paper. I'm always impressed when I hear that others have done it.
