"How He Did It"

I've finally gotten the time to read (and watch and listen to the associated videos of) the Newsweek site's "Secrets of the 2008 Campaign: How He Did It." This is a quote from Obama in mid-2007:

"So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done [that's green], and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f–––ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."

I'm a cynical person and I don't say these were the only thoughts in his head or that he couldn't have been compromised after, but I really, really think we did the right thing.

Heh heh , we have no choice here. The Govt, has removed all incandesent bulbs from the shelves. We have those watery pale green energy things ,that you can't fit on a bedside lamp because they stick half a foot above the lampshade. But we're doing our part, all 3 million of us, whether we like it or not.

(to be fair it's one of a whole range of stuff they brought in. They've taxed SUV's into the stratosphere, which I really approve of)
