Helpful? We'll see...

I've signed up for the gym downstairs at work, yet again. It's a very small gym, but, hey, convenient, and I'd signed up for a six-month membership about 2 years ago, and it was good for me, but I didn't stick with it. I'll try to be better this time. They were having an open house and signing up got me an extra month, and also a chance to enter several raffles. I won a cookbook, "Eating Well For a Healthy Heart Cookbook" by Philip Ades, M.D., something put out by "Eating Well" magazine. I was suspicious, but the recipes actually sound good. In fact, they sound delicious, ranging from re-worked traditional ones (versions of lasagna, chicken salad, meatloaf) to very imaginative (fresh corn and red pepper bisque, gorgonzola- and prune-stuffed chicken, honey-soy broiled salmon, filet mignon with blueberry-bourbon barbecue sauce - yum!).

Now if I could just accept the portion sizes... :-)

Adjusting to smaller portion sizes is so damned painful. When I was in weight-loss mode (as opposed to maintenance mode), I made sure to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables to fill up my stomach. It wasn't perfect, but it helped. Good luck!

Thank you! I know, I know, what I should be doing... it's just the doing of it, oh yeah.
