Happy New Year!

May it be a wonderful year for you and yours!

I'll be doing card readings for anyone interested in what 2010 might bring. Just post if you'd like a reading, and you don't have to be on my flist and it's fine to invite others to post.

2010... "twenty-ten"... we really are moving into seriously science fiction numbers.

I have to say, being at 2010 now, it's a real gyp. Bladerunner was set in 2019 and we're nowhere near flying cars yet. Bummer, I hoped for more.

Bah, there have been enormous gains in electronics and medicine and other areas of knowledge and practical application, and I don't trust Boston drivers in 2D paths, much less 3D ones!

Did you want a reading? I wasn't sure, so did one anyway. :-)

Love: true love and fidelity
Fire: reckless actions lead to conflict
The Key: locked doors can now be opened

Serendipity:bright new prospects are on the horizon

Love is love and a lasting union. Fire is action and energy and passion, and only needs care in being sent in the right direction. The Key is trust and responsibility as much as the ability to open what might seem unopenable. And the follow-up card is Serendipity, the unexpected good coming from chance. Take it easy. Don't push too hard or you'll break the key in the lock. Times are still tough, but it won't last that way forever and you do have some very good things in your life. More will come.

Mmmm, that's kind of how I was planning to approach 10 anyway. I'll keep this and see how it turns out !

Yeah, Boston drivers. I'd like to have the extra dimension though. Might have avoided the guy who threw a beer bottle at me on Storrow Drive !

The King: authority and diplomacy
The Harlequin: true feelings are masked
The Dagger: conflict and danger lie in wait

The Caduceus: you will receive news from afar

The basic three were King, Harlequin, and Dagger. A natural leader, lawmaker, sometimes judge. An entertainer, an actor, who shows only what people want to see. And a weapon easily concealed, hard to watch for or guard against. Be careful. The natural inclination is to be open, generous, above-board, and have someone in obvious control, and what's wrong with that? Decisions have to be made! But there will always be those who pretend to go along, and then snipe and backstab from the shadows.

The follow-up card is Caduceus, mixed symbol of heralds and healers. Good news in store, but also another indication that this King should keep leaning towards diplomacy over authoritarianism.

I would love a reading, if you're still doing them.

Sure!

The Oracle: seek wisdom and guidance from elders
Serendipity: bright new prospects are on the horizon
Fire: reckless actions lead to conflict

The Black Cat: your luck will soon change

Interesting that two are the same as celtile, but in a different order. The Oracle is a keeper of knowledge, either in people or in books or elsewhere. Serendipity says leave it to chance, and Fire wants to burn ahead of itself. The Black Cat... well... some call it bad luck. (It's always been good luck for me.) It's a mystery and a portent. Overall, the reading says to take what you can from sources of wisdom, but leave yourself open to other possibilities, too. But be careful of racing too far, too fast, or you'll miss noticing when the black cat crosses your path. Because at that point, you might want to consider tweaking your direction.

Hmm, interesting. And as someone who's had two black cats, I see them as good things. Thanks! :)

I'd be interested in a reading, please, if you're still doing them.

Honest to gods there's a lot more cards in the deck than seem to be coming up...but here's what did:

Love: true love and fidelity
The Golem: a close friend acts on your behalf
The Dagger: conflict and danger lie in wait

The Caduceus: you will receive news from afar

The Love card is obviously a good one, attaining whatever it is your heart most wishes for. The Golem says that might happen through the agency of a loyal friend. But friendships can be abused or have dysfunctional elements, and others might seem friendly but aren't good for you. Beware of the little daggers that hurt, the little words that deflate, that try to keep you from happiness. What best helps might come from far away, from a message or traveler or a farther-off friend.
